  • On a day to day basis, you will be working in a local school setting, working with a case load of families, providing early intervention and preventive social work services to vulnerable children and teens; and their whanau. This includes individual and group work, and using our strengths-based, multi-systemic approach to encourage positive and lasting change.

To be successful as a Social Worker in Schools (SWIS) you will have a professional, warm and engaging nature; and have / be

  • A tertiary level degree, majoring / specialised in Social Work
  • Registration with the Social Workers Registration Board
  • Full, clean NZ driver licence, and a reliable vehicle to use for work purposes
  • Experience working as a Social Worker
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, their families, the local school and your colleagues
  • Excellent ability to maintain professional boundaries, meet KPI's and adhere to practice requirements
  • Confident, working knowledge of Tikanga Maori; and commitment to working with Tangata Whenua
  • Experience working with children in a school setting would be a distinct advantage
