Mō te tūranga | About the role The Department of Conservation have recently made some big changes to help our people and operations work better together—so we can achieve the conservation outcomes we’re aiming for. As part of this, we’ve introduced a new role: Site Support Officer. Reporting to the Operations Advisor, this role plays a key part in delivering essential administrative support to help ensure the efficient and safe functioning of DOC facilities across the region. A significant focus of this role will be residential and commercial property management. The position will be focussed on: Conducting residential inspections and routine property checks Coordinating and liaising with tradespeople and service providers Managing tenancy agreements and supporting tenants as needed Overseeing property maintenance and ensuring all facilities remain safe and functional In addition to property management, the Site Support Officer will: Support the Site Lead to ensure smooth operation of DOC premises and act as the main point of contact for office and facility issues Provide general office management support Assist with key site health and safety tasks, including safety/fire drills, site inductions, regular checks, ACC safety audits and fleet management. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a mix of property management, site administration, and hands-on operational support. Please note: This role is 0.5FTE. Click here for the Role Description Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you: Experience in a broad administration support, residential or commercial property management, including inspections, tenancy management, and coordinating repairs and maintenance. Ability to manage multiple properties and site responsibilities, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines. Experience in general office management, including record-keeping, scheduling, and supporting day-to-day operations. Attention to Detail: Ensuring all property and site records, inspections, and compliance requirements are accurately completed. Knowledge of health and safety practices, including site inductions, audits, and emergency procedures. A detail-oriented problem solver with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with ease Can build relationships and work collaboratively with a range of people Tech-savvy and an early adopter of new systems and technologies You bring a proactive approach and a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for more efficient ways to get things done Desirable: Experience in a government, conservation, or community-focused organisation. Knowledge of DOC systems and processes is an advantage. Basic understanding of tenancy law and property legislation.
