Mō te tūranga | About the role We are looking for a Senior National Management Accountant to provide high-quality financial support and advice to leadership teams across allocated business groups. This is a senior advisory role where you will work closely with our team of strategic finance business partners to influence decision-making, support strategic outcomes, and ensure strong financial governance across DOC. You will work closely with leaders and external agencies to support the delivery of DOC’s objectives while ensuring compliance with government financial management frameworks. Key areas of responsibility include: Prepare and present regular financial performance reports & insights for business leaders. Contribute to long-term financial forecasting and planning. Provide strategic financial analysis and advice to leadership teams to support Group and Departmental objectives. Support the creation of robust business cases to support strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and compliance with government financial frameworks. Support the preparation of Cabinet papers, briefings, OIA responses, and Select Committee material. Monitor financial policies and recommend improvements to ensure regulatory compliance and best practice Design and implement advanced financial models to provide accurate forecasting, scenario analysis, and decision-making support for senior leadership teams. Click here for the Role Description Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience Alongside your strong grasp of accounting principles and practices, you will demonstrate excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills, while embracing opportunities to grow your career and advance your technical expertise. You will also have the following; An accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, CA) and relevant senior management accounting experience. A proven self-starter, able to use initiative to identify and help deliver process improvement opportunities, prioritise deliverables and anticipate the needs of the customer. Experience with Financial Management Information Systems (preferably SAP), Excel and other Microsoft applications and analysis tools. A strong business partnering focus, skilled at identifying and responding to user needs and comfortable working with senior leadership teams. Demonstrates the ability to review and analyse complex accounting data, compile reports, understand and explain the implications. Proven problem-solving ability and exceptional communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills. The ability to explain financial processes to non-financial managers. The salary range for this position is $96,185 - $128,912 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
