  • Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) Australia, New Zealand, and South Pacific (AUNZSP) is Visa's advisory division, working with Visa's clients on a broad range of key business initiatives including strategy, operational optimisation, customer engagement and overall business profitability.
  • VCA is made up of three services lines - Advisory, Data Science and Implementation Services, the latter being the execution arm of VCA. Our Implementation Services squads are embedded on client sites leading long-term engagements and delivering value primarily through implementation and execution services. We deliver objectives from a shared value agenda but are also closely connected to the broader VCA team, sharing knowledge, and bringing the best of Visa to the client.
  • We are seeking a Senior Automation Tester to join one of our banking clients in Wellington on a 12-month fixed-term contract, starting in January/February 2026. In this embedded role, you’ll help deliver new-generation digital lending experiences. As part of a collaborative, customer-focused team, you’ll report to the Engineering Lead and work closely with developers, solution architects, and analysts.

  • Role Summary & Responsibilities
  • As a Senior Automation Tester, you will collaborate with existing automation testers to lead and deliver on a robust quality strategy for large initiatives and systems, ensuring alignment of test activities with delivery goals and enabling the team to confidently achieve the Definition of Done.
  • You’ll shape test architecture and automation approaches, embed quality thinking into delivery practices, and guide others in effective automation. You’ll solve complex quality issues, prevent recurring problems, and share lessons learned across teams.
  • You’ll collaborate across disciplines, advocate for improvements, and share insights from the wider tech community. You’ll also grow others through coaching, sponsorship, and feedback, building team capability and modelling continuous learning.

Highlights of your role include

  • Lead test strategy and architecture across systems and teams.
  • Design and implement robust automation frameworks and tooling (backend, frontend, mobile, integration, performance).
  • Conduct API testing, end-to-end integration testing, CI/CD, and performance testing.
  • Apply shift-left testing, defect tracking, and test management practices.
  • Champion modern observability patterns and DevOps practices.
  • Collaborate in Agile and DevOps environments, promoting shared responsibility for quality.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Qualifications

Key Requirements

  • 7+ years of quality engineering experience with deep understanding of engineering principles and automation practices.
  • Skilled in designing test strategies, frameworks, and tooling for backend, frontend, mobile, integration, or performance.
  • Advanced skills in Javascript/Typescript, Playwright, Java.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and other test frameworks (RestAssured, Cypress).
  • Experience with API testing, end-to-end integration testing, CI/CD, and performance testing.
  • Experience with shift-left testing, defect tracking, test management, and modern observability patterns.
  • Proven autonomy and initiative in leading automation design and strategy.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence through thought leadership.
  • Quality and reliability mindset, designing resilient, scalable test systems.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
