We have an opportunity for a Senior Automation Tester to join our team in the Digital Channels domain at BNZ as we lead the charge in a major digital modernization effort. The wider Digital Channels domain is at the heart of BNZ's customer experience. We are responsible for BNZ’s customer-facing online channels, including the website and mobile app. As tester, you'll be joining a team that's crucial to this effort, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the APIs that power our digital services. You'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on how our customers interact with the bank every day. Mō te Tūranga | About the Role We sat down with our Engineering Lead, and they let us know the following about the role. What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete? Executing and Analyzing Tests: The person will spend their days performing manual and automated tests for new features and bug fixes, then analyzing the results to identify issues. Collaborating with the Agile Squad: A key part of the role is working closely with developers and business analysts to discuss requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, and ensure a shared understanding of quality. Writing and Maintaining Test Scripts: They will be responsible for creating and updating automated test scripts to improve our continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline. Investigating Bugs: The candidate will actively investigate reported bugs, reproduce issues, and provide detailed information to developers to help them find a solution quickly. Leading Quality Efforts: As a senior member, they will mentor junior testers, help define testing strategies for new projects, and act as a go-to person for quality-related questions. What technical skills are required this role? We are looking for a master of their craft who can help us build the future of banking. You will also bring: 5+ years of experience with creating and maintaining manual and automation frameworks. Hands-on experience and understanding in creating automation test cases using: Back-end: Java, REST Assured and Insomnia/Postman and Cypress. Hands-on experience in AWS ECS/EKS and Openshift testing Experience in creating test strategy, creating and maintaining comprehensive test artifacts, including test reports, test plans, and other essential documentation. Exposure to ready-to-code and ability to deliver code for white box testing Utilize JMeter for performance and load testing to ensure application responsiveness and scalability. Perform database testing using SQL queries to validate data integrity. Experience in API testing, either manual or through automation frameworks with good understanding about Rest APIs and how they work. Agile development Analysis and Problem-Solving skills (Scrum and Kanban desirable) Desirable: Experience with Docker working within cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code Experience with Jenkins and/or similar CI/CD tooling - creating/maintaining pipelines and/or source code management systems – Git Experience with AWS and Kafka Experience in banking or financial services What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?
