Mō te tūranga | About the role As our Ranger Community, you will be part of an integral team within the Canterbury region based in Geraldine, South Canterbury. You will support the Principle Ranger and Operations Manager in the delivery of statutory work supporting the wider regional team (permissions, planning and land management) and community engagement. You will also work closely with iwi, local community groups and business. In this role you will: Provide high quality analysis and reporting advice in relation to permissions for activities such as guiding, aircraft landings, sporting events, wildlife research as well as RMA applications and statutory land management issues Complete site visits throughout the Geraldine and Twizel Districts to carry out monitoring of permitted activities on public conservation lands (PCL) Consult with our Treaty Partners on permissions and other aspects of our work Support and work directly with local conservation groups Assist with planning and organising community conservation events such as Conservation Week Co-operate with colleagues and other agencies across district boundaries on statutory and other work Promote conservation, lift awareness, and work with others to advocate for the District's natural, historic and cultural heritage Click here for the Role Description Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a proven ability to write accurate, clear and concise reports Demonstrate competence working with a range of private and public entities including Councils, business and community groups A ‘can do' attitude and proven excellent organisational skills, including the ability to balance competing demands, meet deadlines and have a problem-solving approach Be able to maintain positive working relationships across a broad range of people and groups Some experience in engaging and working in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua A passion for protecting the environment and connecting others with conservation A full New Zealand Driver's licence It is essential that your application outlines the key skills and experience for this role.
