About

Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

If 2026 is the year you want your skills properly used, this, is it.

We’re looking for an experienced Power Technician to join our Energy & Utilities team based in Paeroa , working across the Powerco network on a full-time permanent basis.

This is a hands-on, senior technical role focused on high-voltage protection, substation equipment, testing, commissioning and fault response. You’ll be trusted to work independently on critical infrastructure, supported by a knowledgeable team that understands the complexity of the work and values doing it right.

There’s a solid after-hours roster, real responsibility, and plenty of technical variety ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving and doesn’t want a watered-down role.

Mōu Koe | About you

You’re an experienced Power Technician who’s comfortable working at the sharp end of the network and takes pride in quality, safe work.

You’ll bring:

  • Current EWRB electrical registration with a practising licence
  • Level 4 Trade Certificate
  • Current Class 1 manual driver’s licence
  • Strong experience working on HV protection systems and substation equipment
  • Confidence testing, commissioning and fault-finding on live network assets
  • A safety-first mindset and solid understanding of HV risks
  • The ability to work independently, make good decisions, and back your judgement
  • Willingness to be part of an after-hours on-call roster

(If you’re doing this level of work already, you’ll know if this role fits.)
