About this role: As the Project Manager you will direct and motivate a team of Project Engineers to deliver projects on time and on budget while ensuring best overall cost, safety and regulatory compliance for the Our company Animal Health New Zealand business. You play a key role in supporting the site to deliver Animal Health products worldwide through execution of the sites Long Range Capital Plan (LRCP). You collaborate with other leaders on site to ensure smooth delivery of equipment and processes and to lead your team to quickly develop up projects scope and costs and help guide them on solving problems and implement improvement activities across your span of work. You will guide peer managers and present to senior leadership on projects giving comprehensive and accurate updates on projects and summarizing projects and challenges within projects for their understanding. You will provide coaching to the team to meet site KPI targets in the areas of people, safety, quality, deliver and cost and build a culture of continuous improvement and lean project delivery. Primary Activities and Responsibilities include but are not limited to Leader Standard Work: Leadership and Strategy – be part of the leadership team of the Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE) through: o Providing feedback and interpretation of site, Engineering & production teams strategy to identify or execute key projects. o Collaborating with site managers to align your team deliverables with other functions. o Sponsoring and/or leading engineering strategic enablers and own translation of site/ Engineering strategy to local targets, budgets and projects. o Continuous reflection with Engineering Leadership Team and stakeholders in other functional areas to improve collaboration and Ways of Working and actively sponsor and participate in activities that build on a sense of belonging across the site. On the Job Development of your team through: o Supporting our staff that are running projects and leading a team of temporary contractors, providing guidance, training, development and performance evaluations. o Engage and appoint to build and develop a collaborative, multi-skilled team. Set objectives and development plans for your teams which support team members in their career development. o Continuous improvement and coaching of Projects teams to prioritize key activities and ensuring alignment, effective information flow and accountability, between and within areas. o Routine 1:1’s and daily coaching through plant walkdowns to continuously improve Management Systems and Ways of Working and actively manage Succession Planning ensuring team members are motivated and inspired. o Embedding a culture of continuous improvement by empowering your team to solve problems at the right level. o Promoting a strong safety and compliance culture through sponsorship and daily walkdowns. Support Daily Management activities through: o Create and monitor area KPI’s and track performance in team meetings . o Effective management systems that align with production schedules, product future demand, compliance priorities and project delivery. Ensure problems or opportunities in related areas (e.g. trends in milestone misses, cost creep, etc.) are made visible urgently and continuously improved. o Effective team meetings and plant walkdowns to ensure operational performance meets budget/forecast expectations and our improving compliance culture meets all legal, safety, quality and financial compliance requirements. o Enable the team to make problems visible and solve issues at the lowest level and build up data for trends to assess appropriate actions. o Specifically, within this role you will: – Oversee the daily execution of projects in your areas and collaborate with other areas to ensure the project schedule is achieved. – Work with the Production managers to ensure project schedules are met and appropriate resources available for your team. – Ensure documentation within the department is completed, reviewed, and approved in compliance with GDP. – Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. – Encourage a zero overdue culture in your team to ensure all assigned Reliance tasks within your team are completed within agreed timeframes. – Ensure equipment / processes are handed over in a ‘ready to use’ state not requiring ongoing project support. – Ensure an audit ready approach for your area. Manage Team Financial Resources o Approve expenditure within Grant of Authority (GoA) for the role. o Analyse trends and data to identify issues and develop solutions to optimise team performance and reduce expense costs. o Manage your department's expense budget. o Manage the annual team and site long-range capital budget in alignment with the Engineering Lead and Finance team. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) including: o Ensure all hazards and environmental aspects in your area are identified, documented, assessed and controlled in accordance with EHS procedures. o Ensure compliance with legal and coorporate requirements. o Ensure all employees receive such EHS information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to perform their work in a manner that is safe and without significant risk to health or the environment. o Compile EHS reports as required by senior management, regulatory authorities and others. o Ensure scheduled audits and inspections (for which you are responsible) are conducted and necessary corrective actions are developed and completed. Key competencies, skills & experience required o A strong team player with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. o Demonstrated execution of Capital projects, Strategic and Change Management skills. o Minimum 5 years of proven leadership experience or demonstrated delivery preferably in a GMP-regulated biological / pharmaceutical manufacturing environment o An academic qualification with a strong engineering and/or project management element (or similar) is preferred.
