- Job Description
- This role provides strategic and commercial oversight across New Zealand operations of the end-to-end finance function, including financial and management accounting, supply chain and procurement, risk and governance. You will be resposnible for driving value, enabling informed decision-making, and strengthening commercial discipline across the business through strong senior stakeholder engagement, influential leadership, and the effective management of large, multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Commercial Operations in alignment with the following OGC strategic objectives
- Support Safety – ensure accounting team and related contractor’s safety while on site.
- Demonstrate and positively recognise social responsibilities with communities.
- Establish positive government relations that enable company activities.
- Maximize the value from our mineral resources, plant, and equipment.
- Value enhancement through the cost management and continuous improvement processes.
Key responsibilities
- Budget Management
- Defines the overall budgeting strategy, incorporating innovative financial approaches and advanced forecasting models.
- Orchestrates cross- functional initiatives to optimize resource allocation, improve financial performance, and enhance ROI.
- Leads the coordination and delivery of the quarterly forecast and annual Life Of Mine Planning base case and uplift case plans, financial inputs for Ni43-101 reporting, and annual budget.
- Lead the coordination and delivery of concept, pre-feasibility, and feasibility level study.

- Supply and Procurement Management
- Lead and manage the New Zealand operations Supply (Contracts) and Procurement functions.
- Oversee the development and implementation of procurement strategy and program usually relating to the delivery of strategic outcomes defined by the organisation (Group Procurement Framework)
- Oversee the delivery of effective warehouse and inventory management, including delivery of goods to support the New Zealand operations requirements and working capital management of the site’s warehouses
- Financial Accounting and Management Accounting
- Oversee preparation of and accuracy of the financial statements for the New Zealand Operations. · Manage the external and internal financial audit engagements.
- Provide strategic review and advice regarding the outstanding and ongoing tax and government policy changes across New Zealand to mitigate impacts associated with changes.
- Establish and embed management accounting reporting for operational level superintendents and managers and deliver training on cost management and variances.
- Facilitate the recording of issues, risks, and improvement opportunities for Commercial and implement opportunities to improve control and reduce process weakness within the New Zealand Operations commercial function.
- Oversee completion of the monthly, quarterly, and annual New Zealand Operations accounts.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Effectively lead the finance function, providing development and support to the Commercial team.
- Part of the senior management team, fostering strong relationships with the Asset Presidents and Department Managers.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor level Commercial related tertiary qualification (Commerce, Law, Supply Chain, Procurement or equivalent).
- Internationally recognised finance post graduate qualification- CPA, CA, CFA or equivalent.
- Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
- 10+ years' experience in a combination of commercial as well as management and/or strategy roles, with a proven track-record of success in leadership positions, ideally within the mining industry.
- Previous experience assessing control efficacy in the end-to-end commercial function, with a demonstrated ability to build and implement control plans to address control gaps.
