Your Title: ICT Security Specialist Job Location: Christchurch, New Zealand Our Department: Cyber Security Operations Are you a self-motivated and enthusiastic Security Engineer with hands-on experience in cloud computing? What You Will Do Trimble Cyber Security Operations is seeking a dedicated Security Engineer to actively monitor, analyze, and respond to security events within our Security Operations Center (SOC) and Incident Response functions. This role involves the thorough investigation, validation, escalation, and reporting of security incidents based on established guidelines and response procedures. The Security Engineer will ensure continuous oversight and review of all identified security events. Your initiative and ability to excel both independently and as a valued member of our global collaborative team will be key to our success. Perform comprehensive monitoring and analysis of cybersecurity events Manage the full lifecycle of security incidents, from initial detection and analysis through to containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review Proficiency with the following tools: EDR Anti-Virus/NGAV SIEM SOAR CSPM HIPS, ID/PS, DLP, WAF Host forensics - SIFT, Magnet Axiom, or other host forensic tool sets Conduct incident response activities within major public cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) Demonstrate a strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating system internals. Possess excellent knowledge of network protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, WebSocket, SSH, SFTP, and RDP Ability to script in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to build incident response workflows and automation Experience with threat hunting, security monitoring, and investigations Apply a solid understanding of industry models, including the Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK framework Practical, hands-on experience analyzing Windows and Linux artifacts derived from digital forensics and incident response activities Contribute to the continuous improvement of security operations processes and tools Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to prevent and remediate security threats Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong technical understanding, with an initiative to stay current with cyber security skills and a commitment to continuous learning and adaptation Maintain a good understanding of the current cyber threat landscape, including Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), threat actors, and groups Ability to adjust and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment Capacity to work effectively with minimal guidance. What Skills & Experience You Should Bring Along with being a team player, possessing excellent written and verbal English skills, and a willingness to learn and continue your education, you should have the following: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field Alternatively, 4+ years of direct experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) role, including experience detecting and responding to cyber intrusions Demonstrable experience in Cyber Security engineering, ideally within a large corporate environment The ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with both internal and external customers is essential.
