  • About the role
  • We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our New Zealand Leadership Team as the Head of Commercial Strategy and Excellence. In this pivotal role, you will shape the strategic direction for sales and marketing, enhance customer experiences, and lead the charge in building industry-leading capabilities. Reporting directly to the VP & General Manager New Zealand, you will play a key role in driving operational excellence and supporting the growth of our business.

Your role will be varied and will include

  • Develop and lead the implementation of the overall business excellence strategy
  • Drive business target setting, forecasting processes, and annual brand planning to ensure competitive and agile decision-making.
  • Lead the organisation’s omnichannel vision, strategy, and roadmap, driving digital transformation for an integrated customer experience.
  • Design and implement Sales Force Incentive programs aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop high-quality business analytics to support strategy implementation, performance management, and decision-making.
  • Lead business transformation initiatives by identifying emerging trends, spotting new opportunities, and enhancing customer engagement.
  • Optimize resource allocation, geographic deployment, segmentation, and targeting to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assess and propose innovative business models to address evolving customer needs and market dynamics.
  • About you
  • You are a seasoned commercial leader with a proven track record of driving strategic change, business optimisation, and operational excellence. You thrive in a complex, matrixed environment and have a passion for developing people and fostering innovation. Your strong commercial acumen, leadership skills, and ability to leverage data and analytics make you the ideal candidate for this role.

You will need

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or Science (MBA or equivalent preferred).
  • Experience in above-country roles or key enterprise projects, with a focus on global/local strategy development and implementation.
  • Proven success in Business Unit Leadership or Senior Brand/Sales Management roles, particularly in product launches, high-growth environments, or performance turnarounds.
  • Expertise in digital transformation, AI strategy, and omnichannel customer engagement.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in sales force effectiveness, marketing excellence, and business insights.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and networking skills, with a track record of building strategic alliances and driving change.
  • Advanced skills in consulting, negotiation, conflict management, and leadership.
  • Commitment to GSK Values and compliance with Medicines New Zealand (MNZ) codes.
