- Kia ora, we are seeking an experienced and qualified financial accountant to join our team.
- If you like to work outside the box, then this part-time (16 hours a week) is an excellent opportunity.
- PURPOSE
- Key purpose is to provide, accurate, timely and relevant statutory reporting and management information to ensure all statutory requirements are meet and to achieve the businesses strategic goals.
Responsibilities include
- ncluding a Charitable Trust, cash flow forecasts, and developing points of interest for inclusion in board packs.
- Preparation of annual budget, including ongoing monitoring, and annual statutory reporting including annual external review.
- Contribute to business planning and support for the development of new and expanding business strategies.
- Review, develop, and implement financial processes and controls.
- Oversee tax compliance in conjunction with our external tax advisor.
- Support of the Payroll Team, including final checks of the fortnightly pay run before processing.
- Support the Directors, Head of Campus, Advisory Board, teachers, and office staff, including answering the administration team’s financial-related queries.
- Look for opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies
- Competently use XERO accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other cloud-based software
- Contribute to business planning, modelling and support for the development of new and expanding business strategies such as Green Camps, Homestays, Green Educators NZ courses and Green Foundation NZ.
- Reports to the Head of Campus with regular contact with the Founders.
- Flexible working times and some opportunity to work from home is achievable within reason.

- SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- 5+ years’ experience working in a management accounting role.
- A degree in Business / Accountancy.
- A problem solver, you will approach your work with tenacity, and be willing to interrogate the numbers.
- You will be a relationship builder, but also interested in simplification and automation.
- Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
- A good understanding of accounting systems, controls, and processes.
- Passionate about best practice.
- Flexible and resilient to work in an environment of growth.
- Preferably but not essentially experience in Education Finance and taxes.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work with the team to prioritize work based on impact and value.
- Legal right to live and work part-time in New Zealand.
