About the Role
Double Dutch Fries is seeking a reliable and motivated Food Truck Manager to oversee the daily operations of our popular food truck. Based in Albany and travelling to events across Auckland, you will ensure the smooth running of the truck, deliver exceptional customer service, and uphold our reputation for high quality food and friendly service. This is a full time permanent position. This role involves a significant amount of physical cleaning and maintenance work every single week as well as long and irregular hours. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day operations of the food truck, including preparing, cleaning, packing, and closing down the truck before and after each event
  • Drive the manual food truck using a standard Class 1 car licence to and from events across Auckland
  • Work inside the truck during service, preparing and serving menu items alongside team members
  • Provide excellent customer service, handling enquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well organised working environment at all times
  • Recruit, train, and supervise team members to ensure smooth and efficient service
  • Operate an industrial potato washing machine and wash large quantities of potatoes for production
  • Carry, lift, and move stock including 20kg potato crates with approximately 500kg of potatoes used weekly
  • Complete a full deep clean of the entire food truck every week, including scrubbing all surfaces, degreasing, removing and cleaning equipment, and changing fryer oil
  • This role requires regular hands on cleaning, heavy scrubbing, oil disposal, and maintaining strict hygiene standards across the full truck
  • Work very early starts and very late finishes depending on event schedules, with some shifts starting as early as 6am and some not finishing until midnight
  • On any days not at events or completing truck cleaning, this role will be based in the warehouse preparing fries for freezer production including cutting, washing, blanching, packing, and stock rotation

What We’re Looking For

  • Must be able to confidently drive a manual vehicle using a standard Class 1 licence
  • Minimum of 3 years hospitality experience required
  • Proven experience managing a team, including recruitment, training, and supervising staff performance
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers
  • Excellent problem solving abilities, with the capacity to make decisions in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Able to work independently and manage the food truck on site with support staff
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving heavy items such as 20kg potato crates
  • Must be available to work Wednesday to Sunday every week
  • Comfortable working long and irregular hours including early mornings and late nights

Pay: $27.00 per hour
