About

  • Do you want to grow your leadership while still being right there in the thick of the learning? This Team Leader role at Busy Bees Whitby lets you stay hands on with tamariki while you mentor kaiako, shape practice and hold strong pathways from nursery through to kura. About us: Busy Bees Whitby has spacious, natural environments with big outdoor areas for under and over twos and well resourced rooms for each age and stage. Tamariki climb, dig, plant, hunt for bugs and move their bodies, with kaiako alongside turning those moments into real learning. Transitions are a big part of who we are. Pathways to preschool and kura are individual, readiness based and grounded in relationships with whānau and local schools. Storypark is used well, not just often, to capture children’s journeys and keep communication flowing. You would be joining a reflective, collaborative team and, as part of Busy Bees Aotearoa, you are backed by strong systems, PLD and clear values. About You: You are a fully registered ECE or Primary trained kaiako with leadership experience or clear leadership potential. You love being in the room, modelling great practice and staying hands on with tamariki, and you are confident planning, assessing and leading curriculum aligned with Te Whāriki. You can coach, mentor and support kaiako, giving feedback that is honest and kind, and you communicate clearly with whānau and colleagues, valuing partnership in transitions. You keep an eye on the details – ratios, routines, documentation, Storypark and environment – and you enjoy problem solving and working alongside your Centre Manager to keep lifting practice. Why you’ll love it here: Full Pay Parity! A comprehensive induction program with regular and ongoing mentoring and professional development Discounted childcare First Aid certification, annual flu vaccination and staff uniforms A generous PLD budget where you can choose PLD for your own learning A monthly staff wellbeing budget and access to EAP services A supportive and highly skilled team to work alongside If you're a Registered Teacher who is ready to take the next step in their ECE career, we want to hear from you!
