Tāwhia - Māori bankers rōpū will play a key role in surfacing shared issues and opportunities with the future intent to co-ordinate an aligned Kaupapa-Māori response for the long-term benefit of the banking sector, Māori customers and Aotearoa at large. With the Mātāpono - Vision of “Working in partnership with Māori to build their own future” Tāwhia member banks and regulators have agreed to focus on the following three pou. 1. Te Pou Kaiāwha (Front Pillar/Storm Weathering): Bolstering access to capital toward un[der]-developed Māori land and housing. 2. Te Poutokomanawa (Central pillar/ Heart-post): Contributing to the financial literacy of Māori. 3. Te Pou Tū-a-Rongo (Rear Pillar): Working with the financial sector to boost employment of Māori across the various strata of the banks. Current members are; ANZ, ASB, Bank of New Zealand, Heartland Bank, Kiwibank, Westpac, TSB and Te Pūtea Matua - The Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
