  • This role is dedicated to delivering specialized expertise in predicting, preventing, detecting, and responding to cyber security threats. You will operate and optimize the core technologies that underpin the Cyber Threat Detection and Response team’s capabilities. Positioned within the Cyber Defence operations—part of the broader Cyber Threat Emulation and Defence team—your contribution ensures proactive threat management and strengthens the organization’s cyber resilience.

  • Ngā Mahi Hei Whakatutuki Māu | What You'll Do
  • Provide situational awareness and reporting on cyber security status, incidents, and adversary behaviour trends to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to cyber security detections through proactive measures, including continuous threat analysis, alert monitoring, and coordinating countermeasure deployment.
  • Monitor, identify , and analyze potential intrusions in real time and through historical data trends across relevant cyber security sources.
  • Lead incident response for confirmed cyber security events by coordinating resources and implementing timely, effective countermeasures.
  • Collaborate with the Threat Analytic Cell (TAC) team to conduct threat hunting and develop new detection methodologies.
  • Work with Continuous Monitoring, Offensive Security, and Cyber Security Engineering teams to share lessons learned, perform purple teaming, and optimize security tooling such as SIEM, EDR, IDAM,DLP, and case management platforms.

  • A curious, lateral-thinking mindset with a positive attitude and a systematic approach to troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems,networking topologies and cloud services
  • Ability to thrive in complex environments and deliver under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Familiarity with cyber security frameworks and methodologies such as NIST Incident Response, MITRE ATT&CK, and Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Hands-on experience with tools and platforms like SIEM, EDR, DLP, Cloud Services, ServiceNow, Confluence, and Jira.
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience, complemented by relevant cyber security certifications.
