We are currently looking for a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to support our restaurant’s daily operations and to ensure smooth and efficient service.

As an Assistant Manager you will be assisting with overall restaurant operations, supervising staff, maintaining service standards, and ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of our restaurant. This role requires strong leadership, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work evenings and late-night shifts.

It’s a Permanent Full-Time position with a minimum of guaranteed 30 hours of work per week. Days Required: Monday to Sunday (flexible hours). Hourly rate: Between $28-$30 per hour based on skills and experience. Location of Work would be: Celine Mediterranean Cuisine 12 Darby Street, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010.

Your duties will include but not limited to:

  • Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of staff, ensuring smooth and efficient restaurant operations.
  • Assist in managing daily operations, opening/closing procedures including late-night closing up, and maintaining restaurant presentation.
  • Ensure customers receive prompt, friendly service and high-quality food and beverages.
  • Respond to and resolve customer enquiries, issues, and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Assist with planning and preparing staff rosters, ensuring adequate coverage for day, evening, and late-night shifts
  • Assign staff to specific duties and monitor performance throughout each shift.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, promoting, and disciplining staff where required.
  • Provide staff with clear instructions on handling complex service situations, sales processes, and restaurant procedures.
  • Review returned or incorrect orders, deciding on appropriate action such as replacement or refund.
  • Conduct regular stocktakes, maintain inventory levels, and assist in ordering food supplies and restaurant materials.
  • Ensure all food items and products are correctly priced, labelled, displayed, and prepared according to company and food safety standards.
  • Enforce health, hygiene, safety, and security procedures, ensuring full compliance at all times.
  • Monitor and support staff performance to maintain a positive, productive, and customer-focused work environment.

To be successful in your application, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience at supervisory level in retail, hospitality, or food service.
  • No Criminal Record and able to clear the drug test
  • Availability of work required: Monday to Sunday
  • Weekends and public holidays availability
  • Ability to work evenings and late-night shifts (as restaurant operates up to 12 midnight).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent staff management, inventory control, and customer service skills
  • Ambitious, energetic attitude and desire to drive sales to achieve KPI's
  • Knowledge of POS systems is advantageous.
  • A positive attitude with ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision and accuracy

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
