- Job Description
- The Assistant Area Delivery Manager supports the Area Delivery Manager in delivering safe, compliant, and high-performing fulfilment operations. This role plays a critical part in coordinating fulfilment teams, ensuring service excellence across The Warehouse Group brands, and supporting the ongoing commercial viability of the business.
- With direct leadership responsibility for a small team, this role is ideal for a developing operational leader who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about people leadership, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Operational Support & Performance
- Support the Area Delivery Manager in achieving DC operational performance targets
- Deliver service level agreements, customer and store service KPIs, and stock control targets
- Ensure customer and fulfilment records are accurately maintained
- Ensure the movement and storage of goods is completed effectively and efficiently
- People Leadership
- Line manage, coach, and develop a team of fulfilment leaders and team members
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, scheduling, and training to meet safety and operational requirements
- Build a high-performance culture aligned to company policies and values
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations and company policies
- Promote a proactive safety culture through training, engagement, and regular audits
- Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and contribute to a safe working environment
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Store Managers, DC Managers, Merchandising, and Category Buying teams to align operations with business objectives
- Partner with the Safety Partner and HRBP on people, wellbeing, and compliance matters
- Collaborate with NLG Accounts Payable, Fleet, and Facilities & Maintenance teams to support seamless operations
- Build strong working relationships with 3PL logistics partners and suppliers to ensure service quality and reliability
- Continuous Improvement
- Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives across operations and ways of working
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance customer outcomes
- Use data and insights to support informed decision-making and operational improvements
- Qualifications
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, distribution, or fulfilment operations
- Proven experience leading or supervising teams in an operational environment
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and compliance
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to use data to drive outcomes
